Inauguration of the academic year (27.09.2024)

The Dean’s Team cordially invites Employees, PhD Students and Students of the Faculty of Philosophy, and before all our New Students, to the inauguration of the academic year 2024/2025, which will take place on Friday, September 27, 2024 in room D of the Auditorium Maximum. Let us spend this special time together!

The ceremony will be attended by His Magnificence Rector Alojzy Z. Nowak. The inaugural lecture (in Polish) will be given by Prof. Joanna Odrowąż-Sypniewska, who will deal with the question: “can you lie to a computer?”.

The inauguration is an excellent opportunity to start the new academic year by meeting, getting to know and welcoming new students. It is also an important gesture of openness for them and a sign that we are creating a real community. So it is worth coming.

As every year, we will start the inauguration with a joint singing of the Polish National Anthem (a capella). As part of the inauguration, we will also sing, with the support of the UW Academic Choir, shortened versions (according to the choir’s recording) of “Ode to Joy” in Polish, “Gaude Mater Poloniae” and – at the end – “Gaudeamus igitur”. The texts of the songs will be printed and made available to the participants. However, we invite you to download them now and familiarize yourself with them. They are available: HERE (click to download the songs).

The event will be broadcast online. The link to the broadcast will appear HERE on the day of the inauguration, just before it begins.
